    Native Plant Sale - Winter Shrub and Tree Sale

    ***Native Shrub and Tree Pre-Order Sale***

     

    In time for Thanksgiving; NCARI will be offering a variety of native shrubs and trees to add beauty and wildlife value to your landscape.

     

    This is a pre-order (online) plant sale, with pickup at the Secotan Market in Wanchese on Wednesday, November 26, 2025.

     

    Cost: $15/plant (1-5 gallon, depending on species). Each species can be purchased separately.

     

    Order window: Through Tuesday, November 25, 2025 (or until sold out).

     

    Pickup Time: Wednesday, November 26, 2025, from 9am - 12pm.

     

    Pickup Location: Secotan Market, Wanchese

     

    Plant species offered (each sold individually):

     

    Evergreen Shrubs (all adaptable to a range of soil moisture and light)

    • Southern Wax Myrtle (Morella cerifera)
    • Red Cedar (Juniperus virginiana var salicicolia)
    • American Holly (Ilex opaca)
    • Yaupon Holly (Ilex vomitoria)

       

      Deciduous shrubs, trees, and vines for dry to average soil, sun or shade

    • American Beautyberry (Callicarpa americana)
    • Silky Dogwood (Cornus asperifolia)
    • Black Cherry (Prunus serotina)
    • Coral Honeysuckle (Lonicera sempervirens)

       

      Deciduous Shrubs and Trees that require moist to wet soil (NOT drought-tolerant, found in ditches and wetlands)

    • Buttonbush (Cephalanthus occidentalis)
    • Coast Azalea (Rhododendron atlanticum)
    •  Bald Cypress (Taxodium distichum)
    • Virginia Sweetspire (Itea virginica)
    • Possumhaw Viburnum (Viburnum nudum)
    • Sweetbells (Eubotrys racemosa)
