 | Woodland Tots | 45 minutes | Stories, fun and a short hike! Learn about different critters and plants in Nags Head Woods, a protected maritime forest in Kill Devil Hills!

 | Wetlands Walk | 3 Hours | Join an aquarium instructor for a fun-filled learning experience in this catch and release program in a nearby salt marsh. We will travel to Oregon Inlet with nets and buckets to search for and collect some of the many animals that inhabit the marsh! Learn about an estuary, the sound, tides, and about the dynamic ecosystem at the marsh. All collected animals will be identified and released back into the sound.
Closed toe water shoes are required.
Ages: 8 and up - Children 12 and under must be accompanied by a paying adult.

 | Night Hike | 1 1/2 Hours | We will meet inside the pavilion at Nags Head Woods to talk about a night animal or about some aspect of astronomy for the first half hour or so of the class. Common themes are the moon, bats, owls, moths and spiders. After the inside portion, we will go outside to hike some of the trails at night.
For all ages -Ages 2 and under are free.
Children 16 and under must be accompanied by a paying adult.

 | Catch a Crab | 4 hours | Come to this program prepared to test your luck crabbing! Participants will learn some basic biology of the blue crab, experience line crabbing first hand from a nearby dock, cook the legal catch, and sample the finished fare.
Closed toe shoes are required.
Ages: 6 and Up - Children 12 and under must be accompanied by a paying adult.

 | Nocturnal Beach Creatures | 3 Hours | What animals are most active on the Outer Banks beaches when the sun goes down? The sea turtle is the animal of focus, but nocturnal behaviors of other marine animals will also be discussed. The class will then travel to the beach to take a walk in hopes of witnessing some animal activity during the evening hours.
Closed toe shoes are required.
Ages: 6 and up - Children 12 and under must be accompanied by a paying adult.

 | Paddling Around Roanoke Island | 2 Hours | Explore the outdoors with NC Aquarium instructors while kayaking the waters surrounding Roanoke Island. This leisurely outing is a perfect trip for the beginner. Paddlers should expect to get a little wet as we explore the hidden parts of Roanoke Island in search of local animals, native plants, and ever-shifting shorelines. All equipment is provided, and no experience is necessary. Bring your water bottle, sunscreen, and sense of adventure to join our staff on the water!
Closed toe water shoes are required.
Ages: 6 and up - Children 12 and Under must share a kayak with a paying adult.
