Did you know? Venus flytraps only grow naturally in the wild within a small region of North and South Carolina, and right here in North Carolina is one of the best places to see them up close.
Join the North Carolina Aquarium Society for a one-of-a-kind guided adventure through the stunning Green Swamp Preserve; home to one of the largest populations of native Venus flytraps in the world.

Led by Gail Lemiec, NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher Unique Experiences Coordinator and seasoned wildlife excursion leader, this immersive hike offers a rare opportunity to experience these fascinating carnivorous plants in their natural habitat while learning about the unique ecosystems that support them.

Event Details:
Hike Time: ~10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Location: Green Swamp Preserve, Supply, NC
Transportation Options: Bus pickup available from NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher or Independence Mall, OR choose to drive yourself and meet on-site
Hike Distance: Approximately 2.6 miles round trip
Ticket Price: $50 per member
*This experience is limited to adults and children ages 12 or older

After the hike, continue the experience with an optional group lunch at a nearby café—an opportunity to connect with fellow members and chat with Gail about the region’s incredible wildlife. Prefer to skip lunch? You’re welcome to head out after the hike with your own transportation.
