Outdoor Programs

The Aquarium offers a wide variety of programs scheduled throughout the year for you and your family. Find out how to catch the big one from the surf or paddle via canoe to Zeke’s Island. Catch (and release) a blue crab and find invertebrates hidden in the marsh.

Canoeing the Salt Marsh

3 Hours

A three-hour exploration of the Zeke’s Island Estuarine Research Reserve by canoe. Activities may include crabbing, seining or birding. Participants should be able to swim, be capable of sustained physical exertion and wear closed-toed shoes.

For ages 8 and up. Children ages 8 to 12 must be accompanied by 2 (two) paying adults.

$22.50 for members
$25.00 for non-members ages 8 and up

Reserve
Surf Fishing

3 Hours

Learn the art and practice of saltwater fishing from the beach! This hands-on program includes knowledge of surf fishing equipment, baits commonly used and how to identify local fish in our waters. All equipment and bait is provided. Program is rain or shine. 

For ages 10 and up. Ages 10 to 14 must be accompanied by a paying adult.

$13.50 for members
$15.00 for non-members

Reserve
Salt Marsh and Crabbing

2 Hours

Join us for a hands-on program that introduces participants to the challenge of catching blue crabs. Lessons in crab biology and crabbing equipment prepare participants for an exciting expedition through the salt marsh to catch (and release) crabs. All bait and equipment is provided. Participants should wear closed-toed shoes.

For ages 7 and up. Ages 7 to 14 must be accompanied by a paying adult.

$8 for members
$14 for ages 7 to 12
$16 for ages 13 and up
