Virtual Outreach

Solar Science
We can “visit” your school virtually! In this program, we mail the school all necessary building supplies for students to test and build their own solar airboat.  Students learn about the difference between non-renewable and renewable resources as well as how solar panels work. In this program, students are divided into teams with the goal of designing the most fluid and efficient solar air boat.

Outreach

Solar Science
We come to your schools with all the supplies and a lesson on solar energy.  Students discover and discuss solar power as an energy resource. Students design, build and evaluate a solar device and discover how solar panels maximize efficiency.

Wonders of Wind
We come to your schools with all the supplies and a lesson on wind energy.  In this program, students learn about the difference between non-renewable and renewable resources as well as how solar panels work. Students then build and test their own solar airboats. First, students are divided into teams with the goal to design the most efficient wind turbine. Then, they test their design using a multi-meter and a box fan to simulate wind.  Once the team believes they have the most efficient design, they compete with other teams and a winner will be determined.
